Democrats Abroad Greece holds Board Meeting May 16, 2005 DAG held a Board meeting to form committees and designate committee chairmen/women on May 16th. The draft list of committees includes Membership, Issues, Activities, Voter-Registration, Fund-Raising, Technology/Infrastructure, and Public Relations. Interested HELADA members and other Democrats are asked to contact Beth Tate Hondros to volunteer their energies to revive a visible official Democrat presence in Greece.
Counter-Inauguration Poetry Reading As President Bush was sworn in for a second term, 15 HELADA members and friends gathered in the rain at Parko Eleftherias (Freedom Park) to read "Let America be America Again", the stirring poem by African-American poet Langston Hughes. We then walked to the monument of the American Philhellenes to lay flowers and say a few words. Greek newspapers Eleftherotypia and Ta Nea covered the event, and MEGA TV sent a cameraman.
