Since March 2005, lawyer Beth Tate Hondros is the chairperson, backed by a board consisting of Bill Kiritsis, John Lewis, Tom Mazarakis, and others. They are gearing up to register as many voters as possible for the 2008 U.S. presidential elections. Do your part by calling Beth at +30.693.6666.462 or email dpca_gr @ yahoo.com For voter registration information, click here. American voters abroad can vote in an electronic primary in February 2008 to elect delegates to the Democratic Convention. Please do your part... |

| Democrats Abroad Meeting and
talk - Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 7:30 PM After a short introduction by DAG President Beth Hondros, new U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Tom Countryman gave an excellent 30-minute overview of U.S. foreign policy, followed by 45 minutes of questions and answers. He challenged various myths about the U.S. role in the Balkans. He conceded that the image of the U.S. had suffered in Greece and around the world as a result of the Iraq war, and admitted there had been a number of mistakes he hoped the U.S. would learn from. He gently made clear, however, his own personal support for ousting Saddam. He emphasized the close, largely unpublicized cooperation between the U.S. and Europe on a huge range of issues, including terrorism. He emphasized the U.S. commitment to resolving the status of Kosovo in the coming year. (For Countryman's official bio click here) The event took place at the University of Indianapolis Cultural Center at Markou Avriliou 5 in Plaka (besides the Tower of the Winds, Monastiraki Metro station). About 25 people attended, an excellent turnout considering the Embassy's insistence, for security reasons, that the event not be announced in the media.
